We finished our Tiger pictures in gouache and we painted botanical studies in watercolours today. A beautiful time of the year to see all the flowers out around the studio.

As winter gives way (slowly!) to the spring, we are all busy making and creating. Warm weather means little picnics at break time, and lots of bees, butterflies and plant life to draw. We are making the most of it before it gets too hot to go outside.
a great Wednesday afternoon class with graphic art being the focus. Capturing quick characteristics with line and vibrancy with gouache paint. Itcwas also the last afternoon class for lovely Maya who had been my student for 2 years...I will miss you darling, and have fun at high school!
Great job, class!! Can't beat a classic step by step to really learn good techniques....So proud of you x
Two exciting workshops undertaken at Amherst Library recently went well, I think! Learn to Draw and Introduction to Watercolours - I have to say the staff were absolutely amazing and so professional and the participants were fantastic - willing to give something new a go and made some beautiful work! Congrats City of Gosnells - you have a gem in that place - keep it going! Below is an image from a studio workshop I ran for Introduction to Watercolours.....so much fun
I recently had three pieces in an exhibition and thought I would share them here on the blog. The trees are watercolour on large boards which have then been waxed.
The basket is 'Elemental' and you can read about it here How blessed am I? I have the most wonderful students to teach and it is really such a joy to see them put up their work in an exhibition! I had to post these beautiful words from my student, Sheila when she read my opening speech (I was under the weather and could not be there) she added her own words
"I would like to respond on behalf of all my fellow artists that we value Miriam enormously. Apart from being a brilliant artist, she imparts to us her students a generosity of spirit and encouragement that has enabled us to stretch our individual abilities to the full and we feel blessed to have her as our teacher." Thanks Sheila! It would not be an art class without you and the other wonderful participants.... |
